Seventh chords · level L91

Spell the sevenths

Four notes now, but nothing changes: keep skipping a letter. 1, 3, 5, 7 lands on alternate letters all the way up.

G7 is G, B, D, F. Letters G _ B _ D _ F, then check each distance. For a dominant 7th the top note is a minor 7th above the root, which here is already a plain F.

Full diminished 7th chords are not in this level. A true C°7 needs a B double-flat for its top note, and that cannot be written with the single accidentals on the pad.

G7: G, B, D, F — skip a letter each time, then fix the accidentals.

Practise this in the trainer — it opens with this lesson the first time the concept comes up.
